Maternal Transports

What if my uncomplicated pregnancy becomes complicated?

The physicians of Diablo Valley Perinatal Associates routinely accept and care for maternal transports from surrounding community hospitals that require perinatal care.  Either Dr. Traynor or Dr. Won is on call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for such transports.  At other tertiary referral centers in our area, fellows, residents or hospitalists care for the most complicated patients.  To Dr. Traynor and Dr. Won – this makes NO SENSE.  If you are transported to our care – that is exactly what you will receive – care by us.  We do not use hospitalists to cover our call nor do they deliver our patients.  You will be cared for and delivered by a perinatologist – the way it should be.

How do I know I will be transported to the care of Diablo Valley Perinatal Associates?

Just ask.  In all likelihood – if your obstetrician referred you for your fetal ultrasounds at Diablo Valley Perinatal Associates – your obstetrician will transport you to our care at John Muir Medical Center.

At our 20 week regular appointment, we were given the devastating news that the amnionic sac was torn and our baby had little amniotic fluid in which to breath and grow. Amidst all of this Dr. Traynor carefully and gently helped us to understand our options and the possible outcomes. Unlike every other doctor I have seen, Dr. Traynor spent many hours with us, over several weeks, until we came to our decision: to continue with the pregnancy. During the following months, including a six-week hospital stay, Dr. Traynor and his staff were always available for any questions or concerns we had. With a combination of professionalism, positive attitude, and pure friendliness, Dr. Traynor carefully led us through a long and difficult journey, even after our miracle boy was born.
